Dually licensed by the USCG and the State of Texas, the Matagorda Bay Pilots have been guiding ocean going ships to and from the Port of Point Comfort since 1969. Today, three pilots guide all ocean going vessels from sea, through one of the shallowest and narrowest channels in the United States and one of the most volatile entrances in the country (second only to the Columbia River Bar).
